Born into house culture and raised training in traditional West African dance, Khadijah’s movement foundation has always lived at the intersection of African and Black vernacular dance traditions. After extensive study in Hip Hop, popping, tutting,, and street dance culture, she increasingly leaned into House dance, recognizing profound rhythmic, spiritual, and movement connections to Africa.

Through battles, cyphers, choreography, and community spaces, Khadijah’s signature fusion organically emerged and became recognized as her distinct style. As she transitioned into teaching, she began shaping a framework to preserve its authenticity while making it teachable. What began as workshops evolved into a weekly class at Gibney Dance in 2022, where under the guidance of mentors, “House with Afro-Diasporic influence” evolved into House Africana.

Since then, House Africana has grown into a widely attended class, workshop, and cultural experience, gaining strong momentum both in studios and online.

Following her first House Africana tour in 2025 across Senegal, Ghana, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, and New York, Khadijah continues expanding the work through classes, pop-ups, workshops, conferences, and future stage and curriculum development.
